[A world of minimalistic sound that is quietly woven] Le Makeup

Le Makeup

Le Makeup is a solo project by Iiri Keisuke, born in Osaka in 1997. While he was in college, he worked hard on composition and made his debut in 2016 with the EP "Diegese." Since then, he has released works from domestic and international indie labels, and has attracted attention for his new sound that traverses ambient, R&B, and Japanese pop. He currently runs his own label, Pure Voyage, and is currently active as a producer, DJ and singer.

Musical activities and worldview

The music of Le Makeup, which combines the electronic beats with the raw sounds of guitar and vocals, is a unique style that gives off a quiet, introspective yet solid heartbeat. The minimalist sound image, which has been stripped of unnecessary decorations, gently pulls the listener in, bringing a quiet, uplifting feeling. Even at the live performance, the audience is drawn into their world with their serene appearance and speaking voices, and the arts thoughts that reside between sounds and words have created a soundscape that resonates quietly.

Albums and masterpieces

Le Makeup has consistently released works that reflect their unique worldview. Let's look back at the main releases.

  • 2016:EP "Diegese" - A debut work produced while he was in school. Appears in the scene with experimental electronic sound.
  • 2020: 1st album "Low fever" - The first full album released by an independent label. It is self-produced in 18 songs, and features personal lyrics and a dream pop/left field R&B sound image.
  • 2023: 2nd album "Odorata" - A masterpiece completely self-produced. Featuring a large number of talents from the same generation, including Tohji, gummyboy, and Tamaki ROY, it creates a deep sound that combines a variety of elements, from ambient to traps.
  • 2024:3rd album "Pretty" - The latest release, released about a year and three months after the previous album. Of the 12 songs, Dove is the only guest performance. This work combines a serene song that gently snuggles up against indescribable scars, and a variety of sound elements.

The expansion of collaboration

Le Makeup's music is expanding even further through collaboration. He has produced works by his ally Dove on his co-run label, Pure Voyage, and has also shown his talent behind the scenes, including producing all of the EPs of Gummyboy. He also participates in domestic and international projects, including the soundtrack of the drama "Moteshojo" supervised by tofubeats, providing songs to NTsKi and Lil Soft Tennis, and co-written with Canadian Ryan Hemsworth. He also has a history of providing model and background music for the fashion brand XLARGE® campaign, and has also been able to share his unique sensibilities in fields other than music. It can be said that the stimulation gained through this diverse exchange brings depth and universality to Le Makeup's creations.

SNS

Le Makeup

Le Makeup actively shares his activities on social media, and his unadorned words convey his personality and passion. On Twitter (X), she announced her new releases and live performances herself, and when she provided songs to comedian Akira Kawashima's album, she reported that she was happy, saying, "I'm looking forward to it too." The announcement of a large festival performance also shows his positive attitude towards taking on new challenges. On Instagram, she also captures everyday frames and artistic visuals, sharing minimalist and sophisticated aesthetics. This type of communication style has resonated with the digital native generation and has created a quiet connection with fans.

Recent Live Projects

In May 2024, he held his first solo concert in Shibuya WWW, Tokyo, and captivated the audience with his staging, which gradually became more and more passionate after the quiet beginning. At the end of the set, which covers everything from past works to the latest songs, he said, "I'm happy that there are people who listen to it," and you can see his attitude of patience with the joy of sharing music. After this success, she also made a solo concert in her hometown of Osaka, further increasing her presence as a live performer. Furthermore, in December of the same year, the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art held a solo performance called "The Crying Xpress" using the sound system of the exhibited works, "Cobra Rack." This experimental performance, which combines music and art, gives us a new challenge to reinterpret the world of music in the context of art. With these efforts, Le Makeup is constantly evolving in the realm of live expression.

Beauty of faith and expressing quiet impulses

Le Makeup

Behind the cool, minimalist sounds pulsate Le Makeup's own inner quiet impulse. Although it is not flashy, it is the core driving force behind the creation, and when faithfully sublimated into sound, it emits dignified beauty. His attitude of quietly sticking to his unique worldview seems to teach him the "beauty of believing and expressing his own quiet impulses." If you listen carefully, his music will gently push you in. Try to experience this feeling.
